Abstract

The results of the research showed that the implementation of descriptive textin the teaching and learning process of speaking was believed to be achieve the students speaking skills. The students motivation increased. They were more enthusiastic in learning speaking. Moreover, the students were interested in various materials presented by the researcher. They could get involved actively in the speaking learning process. Furthermore, the result of the research also showed that the improvement on the teaching and learning process affected the improvement on the students’ speaking skills.
The research findings showed that the use of scaffolding talk technique as the teaching approach combined with the use of speaking activities in the classroom. The scaffolding talk technique as more effective for teaching speaking, especially to perform the descriptive text of adjacency pairs compared to the use of the conventional teaching for the eighth graders of Junior High School Students and scaffolding talk technique positively contributed to the improvement of the students skill in speaking. Then, the researcher suggest the teacher to use scaffolding talk technique as the media in teaching speaking and to improve students‘ motivation to speak English. They also had adequate opportunities to practice speaking in order to speak fluently and condfidently. It indicated that they made a considerable improvement in some aspects of speaking skill
