Abstract

ABSTRACT

Ria Audina (321410066). IMPROVING STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN
WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT THROUGH WHOLESOME SCATTERING
GAME (A Classroom Action Research to the Tenth Grade Students of SMA
Negeri 1 Rasau Jaya in the Academic Year of 2018/2019)
This research was aimed to find out how wholesome scattering game can
improve the students ability in writing descriptive text. This research was
conducted through Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this
research was the students of tenth grade SMA Negeri 1 Rasau Jaya. Consist of 31
students.
This research used observation and measurement as the technique of data
collection. The tools of data collection were observation sheet and writing test.
Then, the data analysis used in this research was qualitative analysis to analyse
qualitative data and quantitative analysis to analyze quantitative data.
In this research, the researcher took a test of their improvement in each
cycle. In the first cycle found the mean of the score of the students’ writing was
64,38 with the total score 1996. In the second cycle found the mean of the score of
students’ writing was 75,87 with the total score 2352.
The result of this research showed that the students’ writing descriptive
text was improved. The students were more enthusiastic in the learning process.
They were more active in following the writing learning process. Then, they were
more active in following the writing descriptive text learning process. Then, the
mean score of students also improved from cycle to cycle. It showed that the
students’ writing descriptive text improved.
Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that wholesome
scattering game can improve the students abilities in writing descriptive text. So,
the researcher suggested to the other teacher who want to teach the students in
writing descriptive text. Game is appropriate medium used to improve students’
writing ability and interesting medium in teaching and learning process.
