Abstract

mproving Students’ Reading
Comprehension in Recount Text ThroughOne Stay/Three Stray Method.
This research was aimed to find out howOne Stay/Three Stray Method
can improve the students’reading comprehension in recount text, especially in
identifying main idea, vocabulary, Factual information, Inferenceand reference.
This research was conducted through classroom action research design.
Then, the subject of research was the students of class VIII AofMTs
Darul Khairat Pontianak consisting ofthirty eightstudentswith the detailofall
male students.
This research used observation and measurement as the technique of data
collection, whilethe toolsof data collectionused wereobservation checklist, field
note, and reading test. Then, the data analysis used in this research were
qualitative analysis to analyze the qualitative data andstatistic descriptiveused to
analyze the quantitative data.
This classroom action research was done in twocycles. Each cycle
consistedof fouractions;they were planning, acting, observing and reflecting.
Theresult of this research showed that the students’reading comprehension in
recount text was improved. It was proven by the findingswhichshowed a
significant improvementof students from cycle to cycle. The students were more
active and enthusiastic in the learning process, even they were easier to
understand story because working in a group.The students were more interested
in reading comprehensionlearning process. The class climate was also more life,
fun and joyful. Then,the mean score of students alsoimproved from cycle to
cycle. It showed that the students’ reading comprehension in recount text
improved.
