Abstract

The purpose of this study was to: 1. One minute talk technique can improve students speaking skill using the one minute talk technique, 2. To improve students speaking skill using the one minute talk technique in class VIII C of SMP
Negeri 1 Ngabang in the 2022/2023 academic year. This study used a classroom action research method. In this study the Classroom action research method can help the students improve their speaking skill.
The technique and tools of data collection was carried out through speaking tests, observation checklist, and field notes. the speaking test is used to determine whether the level of students' speaking skills is high or low, the observation checklist is used to determine the activities of students and teacher during the learning process, and field notes are used to determine the learning situation on
teacher performance, student performance, and class conditions.
Data was obtained from speaking tests conducted in the form of student performance, based on the data analysis that there is a result showed that the one minute talk technique can improve students speaking skills, with the average score
of students in cycle 1 24.48 as poor category, in cycle 2 81.02 as good category. Besides that student activity also increased students were more active during the learning process. In short, the application of the one minute talk technique can improve students' speaking skills.
