Abstract

This research aimed to find out the effect of Story Pyramid Strategy
toward Students’ Reading Comprehension especially in Narrative Text Material.
This research is using a Classroom Action Research method. It was conducted
from 14 th to 29th
January at SMAN I Ketungau Tengah and in this research it
involved thirty three students from class XI IPA I. This classroom action research
applied two cycles of using Story Pyramid as the learning strategy of the research.
The instruments that are used in this research are two reading tests that mainly
focus on narrative text that were applied.
Based on the finding of the research it is found out that the implementation
of Story Pyramid strategy indeed gave improvement toward students’ reading
comprehension. This can be seen from the difference in first and second test
results were it is found out that the second cycle test result yield better result than
the first cycle. Therefore, it could be concluded that Story Pyramid strategy
indeed gave improvement toward students’ reading comprehension especially in
narrative text material. The researcher recommended this strategy as part of
teaching reading comprehension due to the improvement of students score and
their enthusiasm during teaching and learning process.
