Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' writing skills in descriptive texts in SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Pinoh, focusing on eighth-grade students, under the title 'Analysis of Students' Writing Skills on Descriptive Texts,' aiming to provide valuable insights for educators. In this study, the researcher used descriptive statistical techniques to analyze data about students' performance in generating
descriptive texts. The researcher analyzed the results of student's writing tests to determine students' skills in recognizing and compiling descriptive text. Based on the results of this research, can provide information about what obstacles or difficulties students have in writing descriptive texts along with the appropriate aspects. The results of this research show that the students' abilities are at which is included in the average category, where students' abilities in writing descriptive texts are still lacking, especially in the mechanical and grammar aspects, it can be said that students' abilities in writing descriptive texts cannot be said to be high or low, but it can be said that students' abilities can be influenced by how long they have known and studied English. The analysis results can contribute to curriculum improvement and aid teachers in addressing specific challenges students may
encounter. The findings of this research can inform the development of more effective teaching strategies, especially for enhancing the quality of English language education and preparing students with proficient writing skills to meet the communication demands of our interconnected world.
