Abstract
This study aims to investigate the improvement of students' vocabulary mastery by using comic strips. This research was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The subjects of this study were students in the English village in the 2022/2023 academic year consisting of 32 students. This research was conducted in two cycles, each of which consisted of plan, action, observe, and reflect. Data collected through qualitative and quantitative data.
Qualitative data was obtained by analysing the results of field noted and quantitative data obtained from the results of students' vocabulary scores. Based on the results of this study, it showed that there is a development of students'
vocabulary mastery when using comic strips. This can be seen from the students' average score which has increased. In addition, based on the field notes, it was found that students were more enthusiastic in learning English when they saw colourful pictures because the students could imagine the meaning of the vocabulary contained in the comic strips. The atmosphere in the classroom also felt fun because the students were very enthusiastic about answering questions given by the research.
