Abstract

The aim of this research is to see and describe the practices and variations of purposeful teaching and concentration on teaching and learning in 8 schools based
on the school level region of origin. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach with the technique of data collection interviews and participant and non�participant observation. The tools used in this research are interview guidelines and field notes. This research was conducted on 8 schools in West Kalimantan province with school levels namely junior high schools and senior high schools which were spread over 6 districts. Then, for analysis of the data in this research used thematic analysis and cross case analysis. This research there has two results, first are the visible practices including curriculum strengthening activities, used of infrastructure as a form of school development, activities for making lesson plans or teaching modules in groups, and extracurricular planning. Second are the variations on 8 schools by junior high schools and senior high schools region of origin, the visible difference lies in the application of practice in each school, which is different in carrying out each activity.
