Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know whether there is a significant correlation between listening comprehension and speaking performance. In addition, the objective of this study was to collect empirical data on the correlation between listening comprehension and speaking performance. The design of this research was a correlational study, and it was carried out using a quantitative approach. Because it examined the correlation between two variables, this study typically falls under the category of a study of correlation. For analysing the data, the researcher was used correlation product moment which developed by Carl Pearson (1994) because the research was influence which is related to correlational study. The research shows that the correlation in the medium level 0,489. The significance t contribution then shows that the result was a significant. The score of is bigger than , in which 3,17 > 2,44. As a result, the researcher concludes that listening comprehension actually contributes to speaking performance and is correlated with it. A good speaking performance is
gotten from the listening comprehension. The better listening the students have the better speaking they will perform.
