Abstract

This research is the result of research on students’ self-efficacy in learning English by students of SMAN 2 Sambas, West Kalimantan. Self-efficacy is a person's beliefs about task completion and perceived level of competence in performing tasks (Bandura, 1997). This research aims to determine the level of students’ self-efficacy in learning English at students of SMAN 2 Sambas, West Kalimantan, which will then be carried out further research to respond to the
findings in this research. Further research can be in the form of solutions, improvements, modifications, and module findings concerning English language teaching.
The method used in this research is a quantitative with a descriptive approach, where the findings are presented in the form of a description of the calculations from the data obtained from questionnaires and interviews. This research took senior high school students in one class as respondents. They are class XI IPA 2 students in 2021/2022. Questionnaires and interviews were distributed to collect
data on students’ self-efficacy in learning English. The questions in the questionnaire were made to determine the level of students’ self-efficacy in learning English.
The data obtained from the questionnaire will be calculated the mean and percentage. Then the value obtained will be categorized such as very good, good, sufficient, and low. From the results of interviews with teachers, conclusions will be drawn to see the similarities experienced by students and teacher observations during teaching. It was found that level of students’ self-efficacy in this school is sufficient. There are 16 students (50%) of the total students in category sufficient. Only 3 students (9%) in low category, 4 students (13%) in very good category. there are 9 students (28%) in good category. All respondent are 32 students of class XI IPA 2 in 2021/2022. Based on the results of these percentages, students are in the sufficient category.
