JUMIARTI. 521200037. CORRELATION STUDY READING HABIT AND
STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION TO THE EIGHT
GRADE STUDENTS OF MTs FADHILAH KEMBAYAN

Pontianak.

This research aimed to find the correlation between reading
comprehension and reading to the Eighth Grade Students of MTs Fadhillah
Kembayan in the academic year of 2016/2017. This research was conducted by
using a correlational research design. The participants consisted of twenty three
students who were the Eighth Grade Students of MTs Fadhillah Kembayan in the
academic year of 2016/2017.
In this research, the researcher used a test for reading comprehension and a
questionnaire for the students’ reading habit. From the results, the researcher
analyzed to know correlation between reading comprehension and reading habit to
the Eighth Grade Students of MTs Fadhillah Kembayan.
The researcher statistically analyzed the quantitative data by using the
analysis of correlation.
This research proved that there was strong relationship between the
students’ reading comprehension and students’ reading habit at the Eighth Grade
Students of MTs Fadhillah Kembayan in the academic year of 2016/2017
It is suggested for the teacher teaching reading comprehension to pay
attention to the students’ reading habit because it is important to increase the
students’ reading comprehension. In addition, the teachers should find the most
suitable strategies in teaching and learning process because it can determine the
students’ reading comprehension.
