Abstract

Writing skill is one of the most significant abilities in learning English because it teaches not only academic skills but also skills that can be applied to any career field. The aims of this study is to see if the use of Canva in the learning process can improve students' writing skills. A classroom action research approach was used in this study. The researcher conducted the study at SMAS Pancasila Sungai Kakap, with 8 students as the research subjects. To find out
whether students' writing skills in English improved, the researcher used observation sheets, field notes, and writing to collect data.
From the field notes and observation sheets cycle II, the researcher found that all students showed a positive attitude during the learning process. They seemed very enthusiastic about the Canva media displayed by the teacher in the lesson, and they seemed to pay close attention to what the teacher said and could use Canva to teach writing in English effectively in the classroom. The implementation of learning using Canva was successful in cycle II and did not need to be continued in the next cycle.
This research was conducted in two cycles. The average score of students in the first cycle was 63.09 which was classified as average. The researcher then continued to the second cycle by following the procedures of classroom action
research and focusing more on attracting students' attention to focus on learning. In cycle II, the students' average score increased to 74.03 with a good category. Therefore, this shows an increase in students' writing ability after the use of Canva media in the classroom learning process. Based on the findings of this study, students' writing skills improved. Students' participation during the application of Canva media was positive, and the use of Canva media helped students in understanding better how to write and learn English. Finally, the use of Canva media helped students improve their English writing skills. This shows an improvement in students' writing ability after the use of Canva media in the classroom learning process. Based on the findings of this study.
