Abstract
This thesis entitled the effectiveness of using Cooperative
Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method in students’ reading
achievement in narrative text at the eighth grade students of SMPN 1
Pengkadan in the academic year of 2015/2016. The main purpose of this
research was to find out the effectiveness of Cooperative Integrated
Reading and Composition method for teaching reading in narrative text to
the eight grade students of SMPN 1 Pengkadan; and to know how far the
effectiveness of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition method
towards the students’ reading achievement in narrative text to the eight
grade students of SMPN 1 Pengkadan.
This research is Pre-experimental design with a one group pre-test
and post-test. The population of this research is the eight grade students of
SMPN 1 Pengkadan and the sample of this research is 21 students taken by
using purposive sampling technique. Tool of data collection applied in this
research was measurement technique in reading test by multiple choices
form. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistic and inferensial
statistic through SPSS22
