Abstract

This descriptive case study was conducted to investigate how translating traditional songs in a genre-based approach is used to teach students in Dusun Tauk. The subjects of this study were active students of elementary School and Junior High School Tauk english village. The sample was selected using purposeful sampling. The technique data collection technique used in this study was field notes and documentation. Field notes as a tool to collect data, this is considered important so that standard criteria for reporting data research encourage researchers to include field notes collection statements in manuscripts. Documentation is a way to collect data and information such as documents, images, audio, video and information that supports research
Results of data analysis show that the results of field notes and student documents show that translated traditional songs are good media in teaching and learning English, especially in developing vocabulary achievement for elementary school students. In addition, the use of traditional songs in teaching is an important thing because traditional songs consists of several grammars that can
facilitate and relate to daily life. the results and discussion of the research supported by the data that has been done, it can be concluded that in general using
translated traditional song to teaching English was very good and helped in the English learning process. Translated traditional song played an important role in helping students to improve students understanding skills and can improve students vocabulary.
