Abstract

This qualitative research was conducted to determine the implementation of using translated traditional song to teach students of English village Nyayum. The subjects of this study were active students of class VI English Village
Nyayum. Samples were selected using purposive sampling.
Data collection techniques used in this study were participant observation and documents techniques. While the research tools used are field notes and student worksheets. Field notes as a tool for collecting data are considered
important, so the standard criteria for reporting qualitative research encourage researchers to include a statement of collection of field notes in the manuscript;
and student worksheets are one way to collect data from student work. The results of data analysis showed that the use of traditional songs translated into English teaching was very helpful in building students' interest and
English vocabulary. There are several advantages to teaching English using traditional songs, such as teaching activities in the classroom to be fun and lively, practising the pronunciation of new words when singing, and students will be more enthusiastic about learning English. In addition, student learning outcomes after applying translated traditional songs in the teaching and learning process are
very good and help build an active and exciting class during the English learning process.
